In Bruges, Belgium, we opted for a bike ride and it was absolutely heaven. We walked through town for a bit to the bicycle shop, got outfitted and rode through the city to a working windmill. From there, we proceeded out to the country along gorgeous tree-lined canals. The air was fresh and clean, the countryside felt bucolic and calming. We arrived at our destination for lunch, a charming rural pub, then went back the way we came. The people were wonderful, and we found Bruges to be flat and perfect for biking like it was in Amsterdam. The architecture was also super charming and photogenic. We would have loved to have more time in this charming city.
