About me

I am a Resident Physician in Psychiatry at University of New Mexico. My journey began as a non traditional medical student at University of Washington in Seattle where I completed four additional pathways: Indian Health, Underserved in Medicine, Global Health, and Arts and Humanities in Medicine. I started undergraduate school at age 38 in community college, at high school level math. I earned an AS in Biochemistry, and then earned my bachelors degree at Seattle Pacific University, with majors in Sociology and minors in Bioethics and Latin American Spanish alongside the rigorous premed requirements. In 2019, I was accepted into medical school at University of Washington School of Medicine. As a medical student, and now a physician, I have the privilege of listening to patients during such vulnerable, and often pivotal moments. For me, writing and photography are important tools that help me process experiences, and make meaning. This blog documents my travels, my mission, and my journey.
