In August 2016 we visited Edinburgh on a Celebrity Signature Cruise that featured an overnight in Edinburgh for the Tattoo Festival. We also had the amazing good fortune to be in Edinburgh during the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival. The city was alive with activity, and so much theater! And, of course, Edinburgh is a photographers dream. The architecture is absolutely breathtaking, and we were lucky to be on a rare overnight stop in this gorgeous place so we had the opportunity to take in so much more of the city than on your usual cruise port of call for just a few hours. And take twilight photos, this photographers favorite time of day. Of course the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle was the main event, which was very special for my husband and his family who have Scottish heritage. It was really and truly an incredible event, and if you’re considering going, I would highly recommend doing so. We also took in a ghost tour – in one of the most haunted cities in the world. And also attended a Fringe theater performance, as well as eating amazing food and walking the streets.
